Overview

The staff at Hieber's has been compounding preparations that treat dermatological problems for over 100 years.  We are constantly using our skills as compounders to work with physicians to maximize therapeutic outcome.  

Vehicles Commonly Used in Dermatology 

	Foams- Hieber's is excited to have a new foam delivery system available to our customers.  This foam is stored as a liquid, which foams up when it comes in contact with the air.  We can work with your physician to combine the foam with most medicinal powders in strengths that are not commercially available.
	Topical Creams, Ointments, and Gels- Topical agents are the quintessential vehicle for dermatology.  We are therefore quite experienced in compounding creams, ointments, and gels.
	Lip Balms and Chap Sticks- Chap stick applicators can be used to treat a variety of dermatology conditions, especially those that are targeted to one area.
	Solutions-  Solutions are often used to treat dermatological problems on the scalp.  These solutions may be agents used to promote hair growth.  Solutions can also be used as a good vehicle to administer various medications for alopecia, skin sensitivity, psoriasis, or any topical infection.

Common Dermatology Problems and Solutions 

	Aging Spots- At Hieber's, we have a variety of skin bleaching creams.  Ask about Kligman's formula today!
	Anti-perspirant- We offer a wide array of anti-perspirant prescriptions, such as glycopyrrolate which contains no aluminum.  Our pharmacist will work with your physician to compound a prescription that works for you.
	Diaper Rash- At Hieber's, we make a variety of diaper rash creams that help protect your babies' buttocks from moisture while also healing red, irritated skin.  We can also add  anti-fungal agents to the Diaper Cream to help treat yeast infections.
	Hair Loss- We make a variety of solutions, creams, lotions and gels to help stimulate hair growth for both men and women.
	Nail Removal- Urea 40% cream can be used topically to remove a nail from the nail bed safely and without pain.
	Psoriasis- We have a large variety of prescriptions used for psoriasis that are both over-the-counter and prescription items.  Our new formulation uses Vitamin B-12 to naturally reduce the symptoms of psoriasis.
	Warts- Hieber's offers an array of medications to treat warts including Florosal.  Florosal removes warts safely and without pain.  Our staff offers comprehensive counseling for effective use of this topical agent.

The electronic mortar and pestle (EMP) works to ensure all creams and ointments are homogenous.  

Compounding technician, Nakesha Tyler, uses the ointment mill.  The ointment mill decreases particle size of active ingredients.   

Pluronic Lethicin Organogel or PLO is a transdermal cream that helps increase absorption of active ingredients.  Also, ask about our new bases including lipoderm which has increased systemic absorption.
